Pt. Murari Lal Sharma Honored with Honorary Doctorate for Contributions to Vedic Knowledge and Social Service

Recently, at a prestigious ceremony held at the Constitution Club of India in Delhi, Pt. Murari Lal Sharma was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate by the ‘PPAC’ in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the fields of astrology and Vedic traditions. This honor was bestowed upon him for his dedicated social service spanning over 25 years in the domain of ‘Vedic Rituals and Astrology.’  Sharing his thoughts on this achievement, Pt. Murari Lal Sharma stated, “The true meaning of life lies not merely in attaining material achievements, but in carrying forward the legacy of knowledge inherited from our ancestors and mentors. The objective of astrology is not to instill fear of the future in anyone’s mind, but rather to liberate individuals from the anxieties arising from adverse planetary influences—such as Sade Sati—and to guide them toward the right path.” According to Pt. Sharma, he received this knowledge and these values as a blessing from his parents, and particularly from his elder brother, Pt. Shri Santosh Sharma, whom he regards as his Guru. This chain of blessings—a traditional legacy—was originally passed down to him by his grandfather, Shri Jagannath Jaiman. It was Pt. Shri Jagannath Jaiman who established ‘Shri Jaiman Jyotish,’ and since its inception, its services have been continuously rendered across four major centers.

His elder brother not only fulfilled his duties as a sibling but also, acting as a Guru, empowered him by imparting instruction in Vedic rituals and complex ceremonial rites. Recalling that phase of his life when he had the opportunity to join the Central Services, he clarified that his unwavering commitment to public welfare and the preservation of Sanatan Dharma inspired him to remain steadfast on this spiritual path.

Today, under the leadership of Pt. Santosh Sharma and Pt. Murari Lal Sharma, ‘Shri Jaiman Jyotish’ continues to provide uninterrupted service across four centers, including its base in Govind Dev Nagari, Jaipur. This institution is dedicated to the welfare of its patrons—known as Yajmans—operating not only at a local level but on an international stage as well.

Dr. Pt. Murari Lal Sharma firmly believes that astrology is a scientific and spiritual discipline that serves to make life auspicious and harmonious. Expressing his gratitude to all his patrons and well-wishers, he remarked, “Our mission is to lead the world toward welfare and well-being by walking the path of Dharma ourselves.” Concluding with a sentiment of universal welfare, he invoked this Vedic mantra: “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah, Sarve Santu Niramayah” (May all be happy; may all be free from disease).  “May all behold what is auspicious; may no one ever suffer sorrow.” This honor is not merely a personal achievement for Pt. Murari Lal Sharma, but a triumph for the Vedic tradition—a tradition he has nurtured with unwavering devotion over the past two and a half decades. The life of Dr. Pt. Murari Lal Sharma conveys a profound message: that the true essence of success in life lies in the harmonious convergence of modernity and tradition. Inspiring today’s youth, he remarked, “In the race for material advancement, we must never forget our roots. Our samskaras (cultural values and virtues) constitute our true identity. If we discharge our duties with integrity and selflessness, success will naturally follow us.” For him, this honorary doctorate marks not the conclusion of a journey, but the commencement of a new responsibility. In the times ahead, through his institution, Dr. Sharma intends not only to facilitate the wider dissemination of Vedic wisdom but also to train young minds eager to explore the scientific underpinnings of astrology and Vedic rituals (Karmakand). His ultimate goal is to ensure that this rich legacy of Sanatan Dharma reaches every household, thereby infusing society with positivity. Dr. Pt. Murari Lal Sharma stated, “Life is a continuous journey. Regardless of the circumstances, if our hearts are imbued with the spirit of service and we remain honest in our actions, we are bound to attain well-being and auspiciousness.” His journey serves as a valuable lesson for us all—that the most noble pursuit in life is one that grants us inner peace while earning us respect and standing within society.

Remember: Samskaras are the foundation of life, and knowledge is its guiding light. Keep this light burning bright, and remain hopeful for the future.
